How ECOS works
ECOS runs in your browser with nothing to install. When you tap “Start”, the browser asks for Bluetooth permission, and your WiFi connection is measured automatically from the page. If you want to see every WiFi network around you, you can add the optional full scan.
▶ ECOS🤖 Android
Chrome, Edge, Opera or Samsung Internet
- Turn on Bluetooth and location on your phone (Android requires it to search for Bluetooth).
- Open ecos-map.vercel.app and tap “Start”.
- Accept the Bluetooth permission and pick the devices you want to see (or all are scanned, if your Chrome allows it).
💻 Windows · Mac · Linux · ChromeOS
Chrome, Edge or Opera
- Turn on your computer's Bluetooth.
- Open ECOS and tap “Start”.
- Accept the permission and pick devices. You can add more from ⚡ Permissions.
🍎 iPhone · iPad
Safari or any browser
- Open ECOS and tap “Start”.
- Apple doesn't enable Bluetooth for web pages, so on iOS ECOS measures your WiFi: latency, stability, speed and coverage per room.
- To add Bluetooth, also open ECOS on a computer or an Android phone.
🦊 Firefox
All platforms
- Firefox has no Web Bluetooth: ECOS measures your WiFi and everything else works the same.
- For Bluetooth, open it in Chrome or Edge.
Full scan (optional)
Browsers don't let pages see the WiFi networks around you. For that, the page detects your system and offers a single file: on Windows you open it once (if Windows says “protected your PC”, tap “More info → Run anyway”); on Android you install the ECOS app; on Linux you make it executable and open it. Then the page detects it automatically; it doesn't start with the system and shuts down when unused. It uninstalls without leaving anything behind. Not available for iPhone or Mac: Apple doesn't allow it.
If the permission got blocked
Tap the lock 🔒 to the left of the address, open “Permissions” or “Site settings”, set Bluetooth to “Allow” and reload the page.
Real WiFi coverage, room by room
Tap 🎯 Locate, mark where you are on the plan and tap “Take sample”: ECOS measures your WiFi latency and speed at that spot. Repeat in each room and you'll see the heat map of your real coverage.
🔒 Everything is processed on your device. ECOS doesn't store or send what you detect.
